Description/Job Summary

Performs a wide range of accounting and data entry tasks. Assists with coordination and support for Association reporting, and other activities in support of finance function and branch operations.  Provides administrative and clerical support for the CFO, Controller and other finance staff. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Coordinates the Finance Department’s timely response to internal/external audit requests.  Communicates timely the quarterly and annual regulatory reporting requirements to appropriate agencies.
  • Review and reconciliation of various accounts.  Responsible for the identification, research, correction and documentation of all items reported.   Preparation of necessary journal entries to ensure general ledger accuracy. 
  • Processes assorted loan, accounting, banking (unclaimed property), and security transactions.
  • Responsible for delegated responsibilities regarding Association’s vehicle fleet under direction of CFO.
  • Assists with the coordination of insurance program with FCC Services under direction of CFO.
  • Supports accounts payable, expense report processing and vendor maintenance. 
  • Review retention, dissemination, and submission of various reports. 
  • Reports ALCO activities through coordination, preparation and attendance at meetings.  Prepares agendas and publishes minutes. Communicates items requiring follow-up with responsible committee members.
  • Provides administrative support to the Finance Department.  Coordinating department meetings and assists staff with travel. 
  • Other department personnel back-up responsibilities and other duties as assigned. 

Required Experience

  • Five or more years of general accounting, bookkeeping experience, additional formal education could be substituted for work experience.

Required Education

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to an Associate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects/assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Possess sufficient communications skills, both written and oral to represent the Association in a professional manner. Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize work required. Maintains confidentiality in all matters.
  • Strong skills in the use of the following applications: Excel, Access, and general ledger.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision.
  • Problem solving and decision-making.  Must possess analytical skills that are inherently required in an accounting/financial environment.  Must possess problem-solving skills necessary to solve routine to complex accounting problems and make routine decisions.
  • Travel to/from other branch offices, associations, AgFirst and other facilities.
